  • Pressure: Jorginho is the man Wasl fans hope can end their seven year wait for an AGL title.

Following a highly disappointing campaign last year, new Al Wasl boss Jorginho believes his team will be a force this season thanks to the club's new arrivals and the style of play he hopes to impose on the Dubai club.

Wasl begin their Arabian Gulf League (AGL) season at home to Al Dhafra at the Zabeel Stadium tomorrow night and the Brazilian is under no illusions as to the demands he is under in the Wasl dugout.

Including interim managers, Jorginho is the tenth man to take the Wasl reigns in the last five years with the club desperate to restore themselves at the upper echelons of the AGL.

“This season we will play in a different way and we have new players in the team. We will benefit from the hard work we put in during the pre-season training period," said Jorginho at his first AGL pre-match press conference.

As the second most successfull team in AGL history – with seven titles to date – Wasl fans are desperate for Jorginho to end their seven year wait for a league title.

A strong performance and positive result in their first outing under the 49-year-old's charge would mark the perfect start for the former Brazil international who is adamant that his team will not underestimate Dhafra.

Jorginho added: “I know that Al Dhafra are an excellent team and they have very capable players, but I think in the game we will show how we are able to play."
