  • Too strong: Emirates (white) beat Ajman.

Al Wasl moved up to sixth place in the Arabian Gulf League table with a 4-1 victory away at Fujairah in the penultimate round of the season last night.

Goals the from free-scoring trio of Fabio de Lima, Caio Canedo and Ederson sealed the win to put The Cheetahs on 39 points, whilst for Fujairah there is no change as they remain ninth.

Elsewhere, Al Dhafra jumped above their visitors Sharjah and into 10th place thanks to a 2-0 win at the Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan Stadium.

The hosts were ahead on 14 minutes of the kick-off as Ali Al Hammadi exploited a defensive mix-up to open the scoring.

Wanderley Santos then passed up a golden opportunity to level as he saw Abdulla Sultan save his spot kick.

And Abdulraheem Jumaa made it 2-0 after 23 minutes with a thumping strike.

Meanwhile, Emirates came out on top in a six-goal thriller with already-relegated Ajman.

Emirates’ Brazilian attacker Alexandro put the visitors ahead on 19 minutes and Emirati striker Jamal Ibrahim then made it 2-0 from a tight angle.

Ajman captain Boris Kabi pulled his side back into the game from the penalty spot but Alexandro struck again to make it 3-1.

Driss Fettouhi then made it 3-2 with a curled free kick to complete a thrilling first half.

Chances were harder to come by after the break but Alexandro completed his hat-trick to make it 4-2.
