Summer signing Rodrigo Pimpao has vowed to give his all to ensure Emirates Club excel in the upcoming Arabian Gulf League campaign.

Pimpao, 27, finalised a 13th move of a peripatetic career after a disagreement about the financial terms of his switch from Botafogo were ironed out on Monday.

Once the Brazilians gave consent to the €500,000 (Dh2m) transfer, the forward travelled to his new team’s Serbian training camp to complete the one-season deal.

“I was very well received by the players and the coaching staff as well,” Pimpao told Lance! newspaper.

“I am very happy with this opportunity and I hope to repeat the good performances that I was having with Botafogo here. I want to help Emirates to have a great season.”

Pimpao becomes compatriot Paulo Comelli’s second foreign buy of the summer, joining the eye-catching capture of Australian attacking midfielder Brett Holman from Al Nasr. The Falcons – who finished 10th last term – have one space left in their four-man non-Emirati quota after they decided to retain Morocco midfielder Issam Erraki.

Pimpao scored nine goals in 22 league appearances for Fogao since he joined them in January.

Meanwhile, Fellype Gabriel has revealed his shock at the unusual step of seeing a steak compress used to heal a knock while at Sharjah.

Gabriel, 29, sealed a return to his Brazilian homeland with giants Palmeiras on Tuesday. This ended a mixed two-year spell with the King, in which he excelled during 2013-14 but then suffered a serious knee injury in pre-season which ruled him out for the entirety of last term’s running.

Speaking at his Alviverde unveiling, the attacking midfielder stated his surprise at the medical care offered to him in his debut campaign.

“I took a blow in a game, and the instep swelled,” he told Lance! “I sat on the stretcher, the doctor was in the fridge and put a piece of steak on it.

“He said he put some medicine in it and told me to go train–I could not even close my boot.”
