  • Not too Shaaby: Al Sulaya.

Newly-promoted Al Shaab are set to complete their foreign quota after they agreed a deal with Isma-ily SC to sign Egypt midfielder Amr Al Sulaya.

Al Sulaya, 25, has grown into a key player for club and country in recent years. This form has seen the Commandos look to take advantage of the fact the player’s contract was set to expire next summer, a $1.2 million fee being paid to secure him.

“Ismaily SC officials, headed by Brigadier-General Mohammed Abu Saud, have agreed Amr Al Sulaya’s transfer to Al Shaab,” a statement read on the Yellow Dragons’ Facebook page.

“The player has agreed to the contract. This brings the curtain down on any transfer to another Egyptian club and there is a clause which prevents the club selling the player to any Egyptian club before the end of the season.”

Al Shaab are yet to confirm the move but Egyptian reports stated he travelled to the UAE for a medical on Friday.

When the transfer is made official, Al Sulaya will join Tractor Sazi defender Celios Santos and Cobresal centre forward Matias Donoso as fresh faces within the four-pla-yer non-Emirati selection.

French striker Michael Ndri is the only one retained from the side which finished second in the 2014/15 UAE Division 1 Group A.

Al Sulaya will be led by countryman Tarek El Ashry, who joined the Commandos from ENPPI Club this summer.
