  • AWOL: Ibrahima Toure.

Al Nasr are continuing to play hard ball with AWOL Ibrahima Toure and have no intention of granting the errant striker a free transfer.

Toure, 29, has infuriated the Blue Wave with his indiscipline after remaining in Senegal since pre-season training began on July 11.

The club have reacted by dropping him from their four-player foreign quota in favour of new Brazilian signing Nilmar and remain calm about the situation.

Last week, contact was finally established with the agent Guy-Michel Boli after months of failed attempts to open communications. It was made obvious to him during a meeting at Al Maktoum Stadium his client would not be granted an early release from the three-year deal signed on arrival from Monaco in August 2013.

The subsequent closing of transfer windows across Europe has narrowed Toure’s escape options drastically.

No domestic interest has been registered in the centre forward despite him scoring an impressive 34 goals in 43 Arabian Gulf League games, while overtures from a pair of unnamed Qatar Stars League clubs have not been solidified ahead of the summer market shutting there on September 30.

At present, this leaves the talented former Ajman star with the prospect of being sidelined until European sides can recruit contracted footballers again in January.

Teams in the UAE have until September 21 to make additions, but there are no obvious openings to be filled.

Toure has provided a constant source of both goals and controversy during his two-year stay in Dubai. He returned late for pre-season training in summer 2014, citing the birth of a child in mitigation for his unauthorised absence.

A four-match ban and Dh200,000 fine then followed last September after a violent, unprovoked assualt on Bani Yas defender Mohamed Jaber in the opening round of 2014/15 top-flight matches.

Meanwhile, Charles N’Zogbia’s switch to Bani Yas has stalled after he failed to agree a pay-off from Premier League side Aston Villa.

N’Zogbia, 29, has not featured in a single matchday squad this season after falling out of favour with boss Tim Sherwood. The Midlanders are prepared to grant the two-times-capped France winger a free transfer, yet an offer of 70 per cent of wages for the final year of a contract worth £63,000-aweek (Dh354,318) has been rejected by the player and his entourage.

The Sky Blues have not been deterred by developments thus far, preparing a loan offer if the ex-Wigan Athletic wide man cannot seal his release.

Villa are still able to conduct business on outgoings despite the English window closing on Tuesday.

Luis Garcia’s men have one spot open in their four-man foreign quota after already signing Australia midfielder Mark Milligan, Algeria forward Ishak Belfodil and Argentinian striker Joaquin Larrivey.
