  • Out in force for a cause: Pink event.

Organisers of the Ignite Pink is Punk Swim Run have declared the event a “massive success” with over 300 people participating.

Held at the Anantara The Palm Resort and Spa in Dubai, the event has raised over Dh35,000 so far for Safe and Sound Breast Cancer Awareness, with people of different ages and abilities taking part in the swim and run events.

Ben Parnell finished first in the Open Race category in a time of 22.10 minutes, while Zoe Cresswell triumphed in the women’s race in 24.06 minutes. In the Open Team event, Tej Temand and Willmore Raye crossed the finish line first in 24.09 minutes.

Josh Martin took the gold medal in the men’s sprint race, clocking 17:07mins, and Celine Eckert won the women’s event in 18:15mins.

Guillaume Mariole, founder and managing director of Ignite Fitness and Wellness, was thrilled with the turnout at the event.

He said: “I’m absolutely thrilled with the overall response to the event. There were a lot of community events in Dubai but this didn’t deter people coming to show their support. We had over 300 participants and 150 spectators and just over Dh35,000 was raised from Friday’s event.

“The feedback from those who attended was nothing but positive. Everyone said it was a fantastic event and some companies want to donate more money to the cause because they had a fantastic experience. Everything went just perfect.”

He added: “It was by far the best edition so far. The attendance, the sponsors and overall organisation was perfect, and every year it has gone from strength to strength.”
