The UAE’s School Olympics programme has received a major boost with Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) signing on as a sponsor for its next two editions.

Entering it’s third season, the programme aims to unearth promising athletic talent amongst UAE youth to find the country’s next Olympic champions.

CBD will be supporting the programme by providing Dh3 million over the next two years in order to expand its reach and include a greater number of students.

"Having such great institutions and companies support the School Olympics programme is proof of how important sport is becoming to our nation and society and how strong the relationship between sports and other sectors really is," said Abdulrahman Al Owais, the vice president of the UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC).

This latest deal comes on the heels of a Dh35 million grant released by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the vice president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, so that the UAE NOC can complete its new headquarters in the Al Nahda 1 area.
