Newly appointed Australia coach Justin Langer will have his plate full as he seeks to repair the damage done by the ball-tampering episode. Our man, Ashish Peter, takes a look at the five most important tasks the former Australia opener will need to execute foremost in his new role.
2:00pm – Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik added to ICC World XI side to face West Indies
Indian duo of Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik are the latest additions to the ICC Rest of the World XI which will take on the West Indies at a Hurricane Relief T20 clash at Lord’s on May 31. The West Indies will be lead by Carlos Brathwaite while Eoin Morgan will take charge for the ICC World XI.
1:00pm – India say no to day-night Test against Australia
In a blow to Cricket Australia, the BCCI has refused to play a day-night Test during India’s tour of the country coming up later this year. The Australian board had been attempting to make the first Test at Adelaide starting on December 6 a day-night affair but the BCCI has refused to budge from its stance.
12:00pm – Perform or perish for Mumbai Indians as Kings XI test awaits
Meanwhile in the IPL, Kings XI Punjab will be taking on defending champions Mumbai Indians at Indore on Friday. Mumbai Indians will need to win each and every of their remaining six games to have a chance of making it to the playoffs after their disastrous start. Here’s our preview for the clash.
10:55am – New Zealand considering offer to tour Pakistan
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) are weighing up an offer to play some T20Is in Pakistan later this year. The Blackcaps have not toured the country since 2003 and had to abandon their tour in 2002 midway after a bomb exploded outside their team hotel in Karachi.
10:20am – Winning series in India the pinnacle, says Justin Langer
The newly appointed Australia coach has said that winning a Test series in India would be the ultimate yardstick to measure the success of his four-year tenure. Langer stated that being part of the victorious Australian team in the tour of India in 2004 was his personal ‘Mount Everest’.
10:00am – Justin Langer looking to restore trust in Australian cricket team
Former opening batsman Justin Langer has been appointed as the new coach of the Australian’s men cricket team on a four-year tenure. Langer has outlined his vision for the team in a press conference at Melbourne and has said that restoring the public’s trust after the infamous ball-tampering episode will be his most important task.
