    England seamer Liam Plunkett said England must start to play like world-beaters after an unconvincing win against the Aussies in the first ODI.

    “There were soft dismissals, and we’re looking to erase them. We need to show why we’re number one in the world,” Plunkett said.

    7:45 pm – Afghanistan’s performance in debut Test shocks captain

    Afghanistan captain Asghar Stanikzai was surprised at how quickly his team lost their inaugural Test against India in Bengaluru.

    India won the Test by an innings and 262 runs inside two days, one of the shortest Tests of this century.

    “We were surprised by how quickly things ended because we are a good team,” Stanikzai said.

    7:30 pm – Virat Kohli takes fitness test

    India’s star batsman Virat Kohli took a fitness test in Bengaluru on Friday as concerns remain about his neck injury.

    Reports suggest the regular India captain did not look in any discomfort while giving the Yo-Yo test but was seen rubbing his troublesome neck and shoulder afterwards.

    Kohli needs to be fully fit for India’s upcoming tour of England.

    5:15pm – Sri Lanka legends turn down request to advise the national team

    Mahela Jayawardene and Muttiah Muralitharan have rejected the chance to help the Sri Lanka cricket board in advisory roles. The two were among the ex-players to have been identified to share their expertise on turning around the national team’s fortunes on the field. Read the story here.

    4:30pm – India thrash Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs

    It wasn’t a Test debut to remember for Afghanistan as the match lasted just two days against India. After India scored 474 in their innings, they bowled out the tourists twice in one day to complete victory. Read the full story here.

    11:30am – Afghanistan are in big trouble in their chase of India’s first-innings total of 474

    Afghanistan took the last four wickets as India were all out for 474 on the second day of the only Test match. But their first-ever Test innings has not got off to the best of starts as they are reeling 50-4 with just 12 overs gone.
