  • On their way to England: Maxtalent Cricket Academy

Maxtalent Academy cricketers are set to train at the MCC Academy at Lord’s when they go on their tour to UK later this month.

A group of 26 boys will travel to England on July 15 where they will play a series of matches as well as enhance their skills in a masterclass session by former England first-class cricketer Keith Medlycott.

Their Under-16 side will also compete in a 30-over tournament where they will play Esher, Old Whitgift, MGS, Star Cricket Academy and Stoke D’Abernon.

Once those games are over, Maxtalent will feature in two two-day back-to-back games where the aspiring players will play a minimum of 80 overs per day.

Head coach Sudhakar Shetty believes the tour will be a great learning experience. “I personally feel the longer version of the game played in the UK will also allow the Maxtalent boys to gear themselves well and prove their mettle in future tournaments including the UAE Under-17 league,” he said.

“The ball hitting the greens and swing generated in the air, due to chill weather in typical English conditions will be an experience for our lads.”

He added: “In the UAE especially when it is humid conditions, the ball tends to swing in evening games which won’t be the case in England.”
