    5:15pm – Dimuth Karunaratne scores century for Sri Lanka on tough opening day against South Africa

    The 30-year-old opener hit an unbeaten 158 before Sri Lanka were all out for 287 on the first day of the Test match in Galle. When play resumes on Friday, South Africa will be aiming to get close to that figure although they will have to do without Aiden Markram, who was out for a duck. Read more on that story here.

    3.30pm – India have won the toss at Trent Bridge and sent England in at Trent Bridge in the first ODI of the series

    After a thrilling T20 Series England and India clash in the first of three ODIs at high scoring Trent Bridge in Nottingham today.

    Vice captain Rohit Sharma hinted on Wednesday the team would like to chase and after Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss they have put England into bat.

    Alex Hales was ruled out with a side injury for the hosts with Dawid Malan replacing him in the squad, although he was not included in the team.

    10:44am: Joe Root says England are not interested in setting records against India in first ODI

    Joe Root has rejected suggestions England could set another ODI record against India on Thursday.

    They start their three-match series at Trent Bridge after a 2-1 defeat in the T20 matches.

    England set a new ODI record of 481 for six when they beat Australia in Nottingham last month.

    Another big score is expected but Root has dismissed suggestions England are ready to break their own marker.
