Shoun Roger delivered with the bat and ball to guide Ajman Nawabs to a thrilling last-over win over Ajman Falcons in the Rising Star League.

Falcons under the leadership of Ali Mirza, decided to bat first given that he didn’t want his team to be fielding in the sweltering heat.

They lost Mohammed Faraaz and Mahith Fonseka early on in their run-chase but Mirza led by example to frustrate Nawabs’ bowlers.

He hit a solid 105 runs to help his side score 229-6 which also included a fine half-century from Ratan Choubesa. Zuhaib Zuhar was the standout bowler after taking three wickets in seven overs while Roger was equally impressive with two wickets from five overs.

With an imposing target of 230, it was always going to be a tough task and initially Nawabs got off to a poor start when Anwar Khan and Tanish Suri was dismissed.

Captain Alishan Sharafu then hit a quick-fire 38 from 25 deliveries but the star of the show was Roger who frustrated Falcons with a brilliant century.

The all-rounder scored 101 and by the time he was sent back to the pavilion, the score was 217-7. Ayan Khan contributed with 26 runs and was there right until the end when Mohammed Chowdhury hitting the winning single run with just two balls to go.
