Day two at Edgbaston has drawn to a close and what a day it has been! Virat Kohli has finally registered his maiden ton on Engish soil to restrict England’s first innings lead to just 13 runs. Then Ravi Ashwin dismissed Alastair Cook early once again as the hosts ended the day at 9-1 with an overall lead of 22 runs.

Former Pakistan all-rounder Mushtaq Mohammad has sung Virat Kohli’s praises and stated that he would be difficult to contain for any Pakistan captain. Mohammad believes Kohli lies a level above Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar when it comes to toughness.

Darren Lehmann’s Australia came in for some heavy criticisms from all quarters for their behaviour on the pitch following the ball-tampering scandal that erupted in South Africa. Lehmann ultimately tendered in his resignation but now the former coach has come out to defend his tenure.

16:00pm – Mohammed Shami happy to put personal problems behind
India pacer Mohammed Shami has had a rough time in recent months with a spate of issues ranging from being accused of domestic violence and match-fixing by his wife to losing his place in the squad after failing the Yo-Yo test. He put that all behind him when he picked up three wickets in England’s first innings at Edgbaston.

15:00pm – Joe Root amused by Virat Kohli’s ‘mic drop’ celebrations
England skipper Joe Root saw his ‘mic drop’ celebration in the ODI series decider come back to bite him on the first day of the Edgbaston Test against India. His India counterpart Virat Kohli had mimicked the celebration while sending Root off following a sensational run-out.
