Fahim Khan held his nerve to hit a last-ball match-winning six to help Oxford Marine clinch the Vanoo Master’s Premier League title in a thrilling final.
That big hit was enough to seal a super-over victory as they topped the 17 runs Friday Chargers had managed from their extra six balls.
It capped a remarkable end to an exciting final of the 12-team tournament that had plenty of fans on their toes.
Earlier, Oxford Marine scored 74-7 in their allotted eight overs with Khan top-scoring with 21 runs from 14 deliveries.
Set a challenging target, Friday Chargers got off to a strong start with a solid opening 34-run partnership, inspired by Ahmed Taufiq (27).
But Oxford Marine got themselves back into the game with late wickets.
In a nervy finish, the game went into the final over with Chargers needing two to win but they got the single to force a super-over.
With all to play for, Chargers struck a competitive total of 17. It seemed that would be enough but Khan had other ideas.
Buoyant after his earlier knock, he showed no signs of nerves and, when his team required six off the last ball, he duly delivered.
