Rashid Khan to lead strong spin attack in Afghanistan's first-ever Test against India

    Rashid Khan is among four spinners picked by Afghanistan for their first-ever Test match against India next month.

    Khan, who played in the IPL with 2018 runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad, joins youngster Mujeeb ur Rahamn, who featured for Kings XI Punjab, Zahir Khan and Hamza Hotak in the 16-man squad for the match in Bangalore that starts on June 14.

    The 19-year-old Khan was a star performer in the IPL with 21 wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad, who lost in Sunday’s final to Chennai Super Kings.

    Rahman, 17, also impressed in the same competition with 14 scalps for Kings XI Punjab.

    Asghar Stanikzai will captain the country for the match which will be followed by three T20s against Bangladesh.

    Those games will be played in the northern Indian city of Dehradun on June 3, 5 and 7.

    Afghanistan have had their training base in India since 2015, and were given Test status last year with Ireland, who lost their first five-day match to Pakistan earlier this month.
