  • Out on his own: McGrath.

With four World Cup triumphs out of a possible 10, Australia dominate not only their opponents, but the tournament's statistics as well.

They were an unbeatable force between 1999-2007, winning three world cups on the bounce under Steve Waugh and then Ricky Ponting.

Both were born leaders, blessed with a luxury of remarkable teammates. One of those, who starred under both, was legendary seamer Glenn McGrath.

McGrath's unerring accurracy and immense skill helped him set a record high for wickets in a single world cup, when he ended up with 26 wickets in 2007 as he helped propel Australia to their hat-trick of wins.

In that tournament, McGrath took his wicket-tally in the competition to 71 in just 39 matches and he tops the list of leading wicket takers in World Cup history ahead of Muttiah Muralitharan (68) and Wasim Akram (55).
