  • Saha batting in the second Test against England.

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami and wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha have been ruled out of the remainder of the series against England as they will miss the fifth Test at Chennai due to injuries.

Shami has been suffering from a sore knee since the third Test in Mohali and with his recent injury record, the Indian cricket side’s medical team do not want to take any risk with him.

Saha, on the hand, is already undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru having already missed the Mohali and Mumbai Tests due to a hamstring strain.

“Shami has soreness in his right knee and has been advised rest and rehabilitation. He will be going to the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru to start his recovery programme,” a BCCI press release said.

“Saha who suffered a hamstring tendon injury in the second Test of the ongoing series against England at Vizag, is undergoing rehabilitation programme at the NCA.”

With India leading the series 2-0 and in a very good position in the fourth Test in Mumbai, this is news that shouldn’t worry Virat Kohli and co. much.
