Prithvi Shaw, playing in his first-class match, shone as Mumbai reached yet another Ranji Trophy final.

Chasing 251 to win, Shaw and Praful Waghela put on an opening stand of 90 which set Mumbai on their way. Waghela was dismissed for 36, but that didn’t deter the 41-time Ranji Trophy champions.

Shreyas Iyer came to the crease and steadied the ship as he scored a useful 40.

But the star of the show was definitely Shaw. The 17-year-old notched up a century on his Ranji debut before being dismissed for 120 when only 10 runs were required to win.

Shaw enjoyed some luck as he was caught at third man when on 99. The umpires, though, asked him to wait before replays showed that the bowler Vijay Shankar had indeed overstepped.

Mumbai will now face Gujarat in the final which scheduled for January 10 at Indore.
