  • Kohli salutes the crowd after reaching his century.

Indian captain Virat Kohli hailed the ‘outstanding’ Kedar Jadhav after the duo’s 200-run partnership helped India pick up from where they left off last year.

Kohli and Jadhav both scored centuries, but it was the latter who was named the Man of the Match for his 76-ball 120.

“One word for it is outstanding. He (Jadhav) put a lot of pressure on the spinners. It was one of the best calculative innings I have seen, 150 strike rate was outstanding,” said Kohli.

“Some of the shots he played, he was so instinctive. I could not believe it.”

The knock was even more special for Jadhav as it came in his home city.

Kohli said the most impressive component to Jadhav’s knock was that he played proper cricketing shots without having to slog much, despite scoring at such a brisk pace.

“To have another guy who is willing to bat like that from any situation and to keep pushing is what we need,” added the Indian skipper.

“His shots were all clean, not slogs, and that’s the way to bat at number 6 and I was glad to be out there with him.”
