  • A chance for Ishant and Dhawan to impress.

Delhi have included Indian cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and Ishant Sharma in their squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Veteran batsman Gautam Gambhir has been named as the captain of the side for the T20 tournament.

Promising wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant misses out as he will be on international duty with the Indian cricket team as the Men in Blue face England in a three-match T20I series.

Dhawan was dropped from India’s T20I squad for the same series while Ishant hasn’t been a regular member of India’s limited overs set-up recently.

Pawan Negi is part of the squad and he will be keen to impress before the Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions which are scheduled for next month.

The all-rounder went for a big price in last year’s auctions, but wasn’t able to live up to expectations. He was subsequently released by the Delhi Daredevils and as a result, he will go into the auction pool once again.
