Australia aren’t known to be the greatest players of spin in the world and their record in Asia in the recent past is a testament to that.

The last time the men from Down Under visited India for a Test series, they were whitewashed 4-0 in 2013. Even in 2016, their fragilities against spin were exposed as they were beaten 3-0 in Sri Lanka.

With Australia set to visit India for a four-Test series starting in February, the general feeling is that they will struggle especially considering India’s spectacular record at home over the last four years.

India legend Sachin Tendulkar, though, has warned the Indian side that Australia are a strong side and that underestimating them could cost the hosts dearly.

“The last thing one would like to do is underestimate your opposition and Australia is a strong side,” said Tendulkar.

“Yes, to play in Indian conditions it would be difficult and the Australian players have also acknowledged that which is a compliment to the Indian team the way they are playing. But you cannot take things for granted.”

Speaking at an event in Mumbai, the 43-year-old sounded confident of the Indian team performing well in the series.

“I have no doubt that our team will prepare to the best of their ability and deliver when it matters. Australia are going to be tough to handle and that’s how it has always been. But I think I am confident of Indian team,” he added.
