The Board of Control for Cricket in India [BCCI] have confirmed the inclusion of fast bowler Mohammed Shami and batsman Shreyas Iyer in the India squad for the fourth Test against Australia in Dharamsala.

Shami makes a comeback into the side, having suffered a knee injury against England which kept him out of the last six Tests played by the Indian team. He is considered as India’s premier fast bowler and his return will come as a huge boost for the number one Test team in the world.

The 26-year-old recently made his return to competitive cricket in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Bengal. He picked up impressive bowling figures of 4/26 in the final of the tournament.

On the other hand, Iyer has been called up as there continues to be uncertainty about the availability of Virat Kohli. The Indian captain had suffered a shoulder injury in the third Test and will go through fitness tests ahead of play on Saturday.

Iyer has a very impressive first-class record, having scored 3366 runs in 38 matches at an average of 55.18. He scored an unbeaten 202 in just 210 deliveries in a warm-up match against the Australians last month.
