  • Cheteshwar Pujara will rejoin Nottinghamshire for the final four games.

India batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has confirmed that he will be returning England and rejoining Nottinghamshire for the rest of their division two campaign.

The 29-year-old had played four matches for the Trent Bridge based side at the start of the year where he had scored 223 runs in four matches at an average of 44.6.

Pujara will now be available for the final four matches of Notts division two season as they look to seal their return to the top-flight after being relegated last year.

Led by Chris Read, the county outfit currently sit on top of the table with 184 points from 10 games, ahead of Worcestershire with 149 points.

Pujara enjoyed a very successful tour of Sri Lanka where India swept the three-match series 3-0. The Rajkot-born batsman scored two crucial centuries himself and as such, will be in good knick as he rejoins his county team-mates.

The batting stalwart scored a match-winning 112 earlier in May in their league match against Gloucestershire.

His India team-mate Ravichandran Ashwin last week joined division one side Worcestershire.

Having two vital cogs of India’s Test machinery battle it out on the seamer-friendly English tracks should come in handy in 2018 when Virat Kohli’s men will face tough overseas sojourns to England and Australia.
