  • India’s political establishment gave a major signal of warming up to the possibility of resuming bilateral cricket with Pakistan. Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria said citizens of both countries want the resumption of bilateral cricket, during an event at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“People from both countries want bilateral cricket to revive. People want to see India versus Pakistan, and I am hopeful of a contest on the cricket pitch as soon as tensions ease,” Bisaria was quoted as saying by Pakistan media.

Bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan has dried up over the years due to political tensions between the countries. While Pakistan is keen to play India at any venue, the Indian cricket board has cited lack of approval from the central government for their inability to fulfil bilateral cricket obligations.

The last bilateral series between the two countries was a three-match ODI series in India during 2013 which Pakistan won 2-1.
