Ambati Rayudu recalled by India ahead of ODI series against England

  • Ambati Rayudu has been recalled by India for this summer’s one-day international series against England.

    The 32-year-old batsman made the most recent of his 34 ODI appearances almost two years ago but he has returned to the international fold following his impressive form in the Indian Premier League this season.

    Playing for the Chennai Super Kings, Rayudu climbed to the top of the tournament’s scoring charts with 423 runs at an average of 42.30.

    KL Rahul, who scored 376 runs in his first nine games for Kings XI Punjab, has also been included for three ODI matches in England.

    The 26-year-old has played 10 one-day games for India, the last of which was August’s victory over Sri Lanka when he made seven.

    India play England at Trent Bridge on July 12, followed by matches at Lord’s two days later and Headingley on July 17 prior to a five-match Test series against the hosts.

    Before the ODI series, India face England in three Twenty20 internationals having kicked off their tour with two T20s against Ireland in Dublin.

    The Board Of Control For cricket In India announced the 16-man squads for all three series on Tuesday, with Virat Kohli returning as captain after sitting out the one-off Test at home to Afghanistan next month.

    Ajinkya Rahane will lead the side in that match with star batsman Kohli having signed to play for county side Surrey throughout June.
