India suffered a major blow before the start of the tour of England as fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the T20 series.
The three-match T20 series between England and India starts in Manchester on Tuesday and Bumrah was ruled out of it after picking up a finger injury during the first T20 against Ireland in Dublin.
Bumrah injured his left-hand thumb and didn’t play in the second T20 on Friday which India won by 143 runs.
ESPNcricinfo reported that India ‘A’ fast bowler Deepak Chahar has been selected as a replacement.
Bumrah has emerged as the No1 bowler across formats for India. Virat Kohli was banking on Bumrah to be fit for the entire tour as the 24-year-old pacer has raised his white-ball and red-ball game dramatically since the start of the year.
According to reports, Bumrah might miss the three-match ODI series as well to be fully fit for the five-match Test series against England that begins on August 1.
