Bhuvneshwar Kumar will return to India in order to complete his recovery from the lower back issue that has curtailed his involvement in the upcoming five-match Test series against England.

The India seamer, who is set to miss the first three Tests, will undergo intense rehabilitation for nearly four weeks at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru before a call is taken on his fitness for the remaining two matches.

During the third and final ODI at Headingley, Bhuvneshwar “aggravated” his lower back issue and his absence comes as a huge setback for the tourists.

Apart from him, Virat Kohli and his men will also be without the services of Jasprit Bumrah for the first Test at Edgbaston.

It must be highlighted that Bhuvneshwar has been suffering with back problems since the start of this year’s IPL where his workload was managed in the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp.

The 28-year old was only named in the playing XI for the Headingley ODI after passing a pre-match fitness test.
