Sachin Tendulkar will have to wait until Friday to ring the bell at Lord’s after the opening day of the England-India Test match was washed out.
It was a frustrating day at ‘The Home of Cricket’ with both sides unable to get onto the field due to rain. Umpires Marais Erasmus and Aleem Dar the announced at 4.50pm local time that there would be no play.
For Tendulkar, he took to social media to express his disappointing but is looking forward to the occasion on Friday.
“Was all set to ring the bell at Lords to start off the 2nd Test today, but unfortunately, the weather had other plans. Hopefully, we’ll get to see some good cricket over the next 4 days,” he wrote.

Hopefully we’ll get to see some good cricket over the next 4 days. @PaulJheeta, loved the colour of the suit. #ENGvIND pic.twitter.com/rhcTi6YOfj
