  • Hafeez was handed the ban in 2015.

Pakistan have been crying out for an all-rounder ever since Hafeez was banned from bowling for an illegal action in 2015 and it was expected that upon the lifting of his 12 month suspension that he would go through immediate procedures to enable a swift return with the ball.

According to a source within the Pakistan camp, Hafeez has not been given sufficient time to rectify his action during the side’s tour of England.

This is despite the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hiring Carl Crowe to aid remedial work with Hafeez for a period of just two days and claims from management that he would undergo remedial work and then be re-tested at the Loughborough inbetween the second and third Tests.

Hafeez has also not been able to get the sufficient help from spin bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmad, according to the source.

“Crowe only worked for two days with Hafeez for remedial work which the player felt wasn’t enough to get him to a level from where he can clear the bowling Test,” the source told Sport360.

“The team management further kept him engaged with the team even when he got some time to work in the fourth. Hafeez wanted to work on his bowling action but instead he was told by the management to help others in carrying drinks.

“There were five other players who could have done the job but Hafeez was still told to carry things while sitting outside and vital time was wasted.”

The source added that the player has been left unhappy with the treatment of both the team management and PCB, citing a perceived lack of effort in aiding his swift return to bowling.

“Hafeez will now only give bowling test when he will be sure that there would be no problem in clearing the test and he won’t take risks before that since it’s about his career,” the source explained.
