The series begins in Dubai on September 23.

Umar Akmal has been recalled to the side for the first time since being ditched by his country in the fallout from the World T20 in India.

Akmal was criticised by then coach Waqar Younis but is now set to return to the side under Mickey Arthur.

From the squad picked for the sole T20I against England this summer, which Pakistan won, Amad Butt is the only casualty.

Joining Akmal in being added to the squad are Saad Nasim and Rumman Raees.

Nasim has played just three T20Is for his country, the last being against New Zealand in Dubai two years ago, while Raees is in line to make his Pakistan debut should he be given the nod.

Pakistan play the world champions in a three match series beginning in Dubai (September 23, 24) and ending in Abu Dhabi (September 27).

Full squad: Sarfraz Ahmed (captain), Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Imad Wasim, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Sohail Tanvir, Mohammad Nawaz, Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal, Saad Nasim, Rumman Raees

Pakistan avoid series whitewash with 5th ODI win

Pakistan escape whitewash

England still won the series 4-1 but Pakistan's success denied them a first home 5-0 ODI clean sweep and ended their dream of an unbeaten season in 50-over cricket.

Pakistan collapsed to 77 for three chasing 303 before a fourth-wicket partnership of 163 between Shoaib Malik (77) and Sarfraz Ahmed (90) turned this match in the Welsh capital their way.

Imad Wasim, born in the nearby south Wales city of Swansea, hit the winning runs when he struck a four off all-rounder Chris Jordan with 10 balls to spare as Pakistan finished on 304 for six.

Mohammad Rizwan was 34 not out and left-hander Wasim 16 not out. Earlier, England made 302 for nine after being sent into bat. Jason Roy top-scored with 87 and Ben Stokes made an ODI best 75. Pakistan paceman Hasan Ali took an ODI best four for 60 and recalled left-arm quick Mohammad Amir three for 50.

England have been utterly dominant in the series so far, romping to a 4-0 lead against  a woeful Pakistan outfit.

The tourists have thus far failed to contain an England side in its rudest one-day health, playing a modern brand of cricket that has eluded Pakistan.

Will England go on to break yet more ODI records en route to completing a clean sweep or can Pakistan finally arrest the host’s run?
