  • Pakistan won the Champions Trophy famously against India in 2017.

With uncertainty looming large over India‘s bid to host the Champions Trophy in 2021 due to tax issues, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has offered the ICC an option to host the 50-over event.

The ICC board had expressed concern over the absence of a tax exemption from the Indian Government for ICC events held in India.

However, while the BCCI and ICC continue dialogue with the Indian government, the governing body will look at alternative host countries in a similar time zone.

According to a Geo TV source, the PCB declared their interest in hosting the event in three years’ time during a recent meeting with the ICC.

But a decision on the host country is not likely to be taken before 2019.

Pakistan hosted last year’s Pakistan Super League final in Lahore as well as T20I contests against Sri Lanka.
