  • No day-night Tests at Dubai this year.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has reportedly decided against hosting any day-night Tests in the UAE this year.

Pakistan are due to take on Australia and New Zealand at their alternative home in September and October and according to a report by the Express Tribune, none of the Tests with the two sides will be a day-night affair.

The Men in Green have already hosted two day-night Tests previously at Dubai. They were victorious by 56 runs in their first-ever day-night Test against the West Indies in October 2016 while their second outing under lights in Dubai ended in a 68-run defeat to Sri Lanka last year.

According to the report, the reason there won’t be any day-night Tests in Pakistan’s home calendar this year is due to reservations expressed by the team management who believe that the late dew affects spinners.

Pakistan have previously played two day-night Tests in Dubai.

The PCB is said to have accepted the reasoning and as a result, none of the five slated Tests against Australia and New Zealand will be played under lights.

Pakistan are due to host Australia for two Tests and three T20Is before taking on New Zealand in three Tests, three T20Is and as many ODIs.

The matches are slated to take place in September and October although the full schedule has not been announced yet.
