  • Set for a return: Gautam Gambhir is itching to get back into the India Test side.

With the series level at 1-1, both England and India have it all to play for with two Tests remaining.

India completely battered the hosts at Lord's, but England responded immediately with an equally dominant performance at Southampton.

For either side to come out on top come the end of the fifth Test, players from both teams will need to stand up and be counted.

Ahead of the fourth Test at Old Trafford, we look at five players to watch out for in Manchester.

    Gautam Gambhir (above)

The wounds of being exiled from the team will run deep in Gambhir's mind and, if given a chance on Thursday, the Indian opener will be hoping to make a real mark on his return to the side. Though he suffers from a lack of match practice, his talents are known to all and he could make a significant impact at Old Trafford.

    Alastair Cook

The English skipper showed signs of coming back to his best form with two good innings in the third Test at Southampton and doubled his joy with a win. He would want to put an end to what has been the worse run in his career with another good performance at Old Trafford, especially considering the pressure he is under from all corners of English cricket.

    Ajinkya Rahane

Prior to the series, the burden of carrying the Indian team was being put on Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli. Both have failed thus far, yet the team finds itself tied in the five-match series. That they are still in the series is largely thanks to the efforts of Mumbai batsmen Ajinkya Rahane, who has been superb down the order, scoring 270 runs at an average of 54.00 in the first three Tests.

    Moeen Ali

High on confidence from his match-winning spell at the Ageas Bowl, Moeen will want to turn the heat up and cement his spot in the side with another good performance. He rattled the Indian batsmen in Southampton and has put a doubt in their mind that they will be desperate to eradicate. Having been embarrassed by the part-time spinner in the last Test, India's response could be telling. Do they stick or twist?

    Jos Buttler

The 23-year-old wicket-keeper’s Test career got off to a dream start with an 85 in England's first innings at Southampton and some brilliant takes behind the stumps. Considering the hype around his inclusion and the fact that he dislodged iconic figure Matt Prior in the side, Buttler will be delighted at the opportunity to carry on his fine start in Test cricket at the place that he plys his domestic trade. He has the ability to be a match-winner in the same ilk as Adam Gilchrist.
