  • All or nothing: India take on England in their World Cup quarter-final match.

The quarter-finals line-up of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup has been decided after the remaining group games were played out across the UAE on Wednesday.

In the tightly-contested Group B, Australia and Afghanistan advance to the knockout stages, with Bangladesh missing out on run-rate following a 74-run defeat to the boys from Down Under.

Batting first in Abu Dhabi, Australia posted 244 runs in their 50 overs, with Jake Doran’s unbeaten 99 the highlight of the innings.

In response, Bangladesh reached 170 all-out inside 42 overs, which meant their hopes of qualifying for the next round were pinned on having a superior run-rate to Afghanistan.

However, Afghanistan’s four-wicket defeat of Namibia sent Bangladesh crashing out by the narrowest of margins.

In Group A, Pakistan ensured their place alongside India in the quarter-final with an emphatic 146-run victory over Scotland in Dubai.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Pakistan amassed a mammoth total of 308 from 50 overs. Opener Imam-ul-Haq – the nephew of acclaimed former Pakistan captain Inzamam – produced one of the innings of the tournament with a stunning 133.

Scotland failed to get anywhere near the total set by Pakistan, despite the best efforts of opening batsman Andrew Umeed (65), and were bowled out for 162 inside 40 overs.

Elsewhere, India cemented their place at the top of Group A with the most lop-sided result of the tournament so far – defeating Papua New Guinea (PNG) by 245 runs.

Batting first, India posted 301, with half-centuries from Ankush Bains (59) and Sanju Samson, whose 85 came off just 48 deliveries.

In reply, PNG were skittled out for just 56 runs in the 23rd over.

With the group stages now completed, the line-ups for the quarter-finals and the plate championship have been confirmed.

In the quarter-finals, England take on India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, and Pakistan face Sri Lanka at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

On Sunday, Afghanistan and South Africa battle for a place in the last-four in Sharjah, while Australia clash with the West Indies in Dubai.

In the Plate Championship, Bangladesh take on Canada and Namibia tackle Zimbabwe on Saturday, with both fixtures taking place in Abu Dhabi.

And on Sunday, New Zealand face Papua New Guinea, while the UAE do battle with Scotland, with both games again taking place at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
