  • The UAE secured their first World Twenty20 warm-up win at the second attempt with a routine six-wicket win over Nepal at Fatullah today thanks largely to Sharif Asadullah's 3-15 with the ball.

UAE captain Khurram Khan was rewarded by his bowlers for his decision to put Nepal into bat as Nepal were bowled out for just 95 in their full 20 overs.

Khan's men then went about chasing the low target with seven balls to spare and six-wickets in hand as wicket-keeper batsman Swapnil Patel (33) and Shaiman Anwar (30*) starred with the bat.

Having lost their previous warm-up match in spiriting fashion to Bangladesh, the UAE will be delighted by their early showings ahead of the tournament proper which begins against the Netherlands at the Sylhet Stadium on Monday.

Only three of the Nepalese batsmen managed double figures as Kamran Shazad (2-19) and Asasdullah put the opposition to the sword, ably supported by Manjula Guruge, Shadeep Silva, Ahmed Raza and Rohan Mustafa who all took a wicket apiece.

The UAE made little fuss in response, despite losing both openers early on with Khan (15), Patel, Anwar and Mustafa (10*) comfortably saw their side home.
