Ravichandran Ashwin picked up six wickets to put India in an advantageous position at the end of play on day three.
After India managed 557/5d in their first innings, New Zealand’s reply got off to a terrific start with Martin Guptill and Tom Latham adding 118 runs for the first wicket.
Once Latham was dismissed by Ashwin, the wheels came off and the Kiwis lost wickets fast.
A fine half-century from Jimmy Neesham helped New Zealand’s total gain some respectability and they were finally bowled out for 299.
India decided against enforcing the follow-on and were 18/0 at the end of day’s play. Gautam Gambhir had to retire hurt after suffering a shoulder injury during his time at the crease.

Remember I told you about that wicket producing machine in @ashwinravi99's backyard doing double-shifts? It's in a beautiful steady state!

That run out. Bowled off his elbow. Caught (inside edge) off his boot.
When itβs not going your way...
At this rate Ashwin will be like fastest to 1000 too.

Guptill this series: dodgy lbw, caught off a defensive block into his foot, bowled off his elbow leaving the ball, lbw, run out by bowler.

Ross Taylor having that kind of a series which would've disappointed even Shan Masood. #INDvNZ
