  • Mithali Raj, the Indian captain.

Mithali Raj was once again among the runs as India posted a five-wicket win over West Indies to clinch the three-match series 2-0 at Vijayawada on Sunday.

Put into bat first, the West Indians lost wickets at regular intervals and never really gathered any sort of momentum, ending with 153/7 in their 50 overs.

Deandra Dottin was the top scorer for the visitors, scoring 63 in a knock which included six fours and one six. Jhulan Goswami and Ekta Bisht were the most impressive Indian bowlers, both picking up two wickets each.

In reply, Smriti Mandhana played a vital knock at the top of the order for the Indians. Her 63-ball 42 helped India stay on the front foot throughout the chase.

Mithali Raj, who scored an unbeaten 46 in the first ODI, scored 45 to all but make sure that India would win the match and the series.

The two teams will face off in the third and final ODI at the same venue on Wednesday.
