  • Eoin Morgan is elated at the end of the match.

Sydney Thunder had to wait a while for their first win in the ongoing season of the Big Bash League (BBL), but boy, it was worth it!

Facing the last ball of the game, with five runs to win and Ben Hilfenhaus bowling, Thunder’s Eoin Morgan launched a six straight down the ground to seal a memorable victory for his team.

Morgan timed his innings beautifully as he finished unbeaten on 71 from just 50 deliveries against the Melbourne Stars at the Spotless Stadium, Sydney.

Thunder needed 16 runs to win off the final over and Pat Cummins’ six off the third delivery kept them in the game. A single and a two followed, before Morgan did the needful.

Incidentally, this is the England limited overs captain’s last game in the BBL as he will join the English squad in India for an ODI and T20I series that commences on January 15.
