  • Batting in India is not exactly an easy prospect for overseas batsmen, less so for players who haven’t played Test cricket in India previously.

That’s why Australian opening batsman Matt Renshaw’s performance was so impressive in the first Test against India in Pune last week.

In a low-scoring match which finished in less than three days, Renshaw showed that he has the technique to succeed even in the most unfavourable of conditions.

The 20-year-old, with scores of 68 and 31, played an important part in Australia’s first Test win in India since 2004.

As the infographic above shows, Renshaw joins a host of Australian legends who managed to do well in their first outing in India in the longest format of the game.

Australia have won a Test series in India only once in the last 47 years. Leading 1-0 in the four-Test series, can they win the series?
