  • Ganguly believes day-night Test matches are the future.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has been impressed by the bowling performance of Australian spin duo of Nathan Lyon and Steve O’Keefe in the ongoing Test series.

O’Keefe starred for Australia in the first Test of the series at Pune with a match haul of 12 wickets, guiding the visitors to their first Test win in India in more than 13 years.

It was the turn of Lyon to show his class in the first innings of the second Test as the off-spinner took 8/50, the best bowling figures in a Test innings by an overseas bowler in India ever.

Ganguly mentioned that he had never seen two Australian spinners apply pressure like Lyon and O’Keefe have.

“I have never seen two spinners putting so much pressure from both ends before for Australia. They are bowling really well,” said Ganguly.

The 44-year-old was speaking during the inauguration of a cricket academy by former Bengal cricketer Shib Sankar Paul.

Paul played 61 first-class matches, during which he picked up 220 wickets. He never played for India but was included in the Test squads on two separate occasions in late 2004.
