  • England's Alex Hales was picked up by Stellenbosch Monarchs.

The first ever player draft for South Africa’s inaugural T20 Global League got underway on Sunday in Cape Town. The T20 Global League is Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) answer to the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Big Bash T20 competitions.

Eight franchisees have been spread out across South Africa after a tedious process in which over 150 applications were received. CSA unveiled the owners which include five Indians in an event in London on 19 June.

Each franchisee had been assigned two marquee players ahead of the auction – one South African international while the other a global star.

A total of 116 players had thrown their hat into the ring for the draft held on Sunday. The marquee players had been drafted to their respective teams on Saturday while Sunday saw eight rounds of the players draft. Below are how the teams have stacked up so far after the player draft.
