  • Hafeez is confident that his bowling action will get the nod from the ICC.

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is hoping to get cleared by the ICC over his suspect action after undergoing bowling action tests in England.

The 37-year-old undertook the tests at the Loughborough University and was confident that his action will fall under the permissible limits set by the ICC.

“The test went good and I bowled some balls, which, according to me, were bowled with a legal action, so hoping for a good result,” Hafeez told The Express Tribune.

Hafeez had been reported of a suspect bowling action during the third ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the UAE in October. This was the third time that the veteran had been reported in the last three years.

The Pakistan man has already served a one-year suspension from bowling after he was reported for the second time in 2015.

Hafeez had then sought the services of spin-bowling consultant Carl Crowe who helped him return with a permissible action after his one-year ban from bowling.

Hafeez's action was reported after the 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka.

Crowe, who has also helped West Indies spinner Sunil Narine correct his action after the off-break bowler had been reported for a suspect action itself.

After spending a day working with Hafeez before his test on Wednesday, Crowe is confident that the all-rounder will be able to withstand ICC’s scrutiny.

“He seems more balanced, and is using his body more efficiently, more effectively,” Crowe had told ESPNcricinfo.

“That’s often an issue with guys who have issues with an arm being flexed. They need to be more efficient with their body, and one or two things we did last year helped him do that.”

The results of Hafeez’s bowling test are expected to arrive within two weeks. He is currently the No.1 all-rounder in the ICC ODI rankings ahead of Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan.
