  • Unlikely to be fit: Rohit Sharma is recovering from a fractured finger.

India opener Rohit Sharma is likely to miss the upcoming one-day series at home against West Indies.

The 27-year-old batsman underwent an operation on his fractured finger recently and doctors have advised him a further period of rest, according to a report in The Indian Express.

Sharma had hurt his finger during the second dayer in England last month and had to return home.

The five-match one-day series will begin with the Kochi game on October 8 and end on October 22. Sharma, however, is expected to be fit for the three-match Test series beginning on October 30.

The paper quoted an unnamed BCCI official who said: “He is doubtful for the West Indies series as he will take another four-five weeks to recover. Our physiotherapists are monitoring his progress. And we are hoping he will be available for the Test series which will start in October.”
