Before India skipper Virat Kohli tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma in December last year, the couple had earned an invite from the Adelaide Oval’s CEO to make use of the facilities at the picturesque venue in Australia for their marriage celebrations.

After the couple’s wedding, they have received another invite, of a different kind from Sri Lanka’s sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara. The Sri Lankan minister wants Mr. and Mrs. Kohli to pay a visit to the island nation for a holiday.

“I am not inviting Kohli to play here, but I want him to spend a few days with his wife Anushka Sharma. After marriage, he has not visited this country. The couple can be this nation’s guest. There are several good places to see here,” the minister told Mid-Day recently.

The minister has said that he is a big fan of the batting sensation and came to witness him personally in action during the second Test in Colombo during India’s tour of Sri Lanka last year.

Jaysekera had come to watch Kohli in action in the Colombo Test last year.

The India superstar is currently enjoying a well-deserved break from international cricket after his excellent series personally and as skipper in South Africa recently.

His team-mates are currently in Sri Lanka, battling it out in the Nidahas T20I Tri-series also involving Bangladesh. Being led by Rohit Sharma in the absence of Kohli, India have booked a place in the finals of the tournament and await the victors of Friday’s clash between the hosts and Bangladesh.
