  • New Zealand skipper Suzie Bates (r).

The New Zealand women’s team registered the highest ever score in a One-Day International as they posted 490-4 against Ireland in Dublin on Friday.

New Zealand captain Suzie Bates led the batting charge with a knock of 151 as she gave her team an ideal start during an opening stand of 172 with Jess Watkin (62). Suzie smashed 24 fours and two sixes during her 97-ball innings to set up the mammoth score.

Maddy Green’s 121 from 77 deliveries helped New Zealand break their own record of 455-5 against Pakistan at Christchurch in 1997.

Ireland bowlers came in for some rough treatment with teenage leg-spinner Cara Murray going for 119 runs in 10 overs.

England hold the record for the highest score in men’s ODIs – 444 for three against Pakistan at Nottingham in 2016.

The highest men’s List A score is Surrey’s 496-4 against Gloucestershire at The Oval in 2007.
