  • England are in complete control at Chester-le-Street.

With an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series already in the bag, England will aim to take one step closer to a whitewash when they take on Australia in the fourth ODI at Chester-le-Street.

Australia, on the other hand, will be playing to salvage some pride after tasting their biggest ODI defeat in history while plummeting to their lowest ranking since 1984. They have also been dealt a late blow with in-form batsman Glenn Maxwell ruled out of the ODI with an injury.  Paine has won the toss and elected to bat first.

Australian openers Aaron Finch and Travis Head had started in positive fashion by putting on an unbeaten century stand for the first wicket. Head was dismissed by Adil Rashid for 63 but Australia remained in a strong position with Finch registering his sixth ODI ton against England. Following Finch’s dismissal, Shaun Marsh struck a 91-ball century as Australia neared the 300-run mark. Wickets fell in heaps in the death overs as Australia finished their innings at 310-8.

In reply, England openers Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow have once again given the hosts a flying start with the former striking a 81-ball ton. The two openers fell after a 174-run stand but the damage had already been done. Ultimately, the hosts recorded a comprehensive six-wicket win with a staggering 33 balls to spare.
