  • India opened their English summer campaign with a 76-run win in first T20I against Ireland at Dublin on Wednesday after smashing 208-5.

Opener Rohit Sharma hit 97 from 61 balls and added 160 for the first wicket as the Indians put the hosts’ bowlers to the sword.

Spinners Kuldeep Yadav (4-21) and Yuzvendra Chahal (3-38) knocked the wind out of Ireland’s sails as the hosts were restricted to 132-9.

India were dealt a late injury blow in Wednesday’s team training session when spinning all-rounder Washington Sundar injured his ankle during a game of football. Sundar was among the four players who missed out with KL Rahul, Dinesh Karthik and Umesh Yadav joining him on the sidelines.

Ireland skipper Gary Wilson won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Virat Kohli‘s men are on a 11-week tour of the UK which will see them take on England in three T20Is, three ODIs and five Tests following the completion of the series against Ireland.
