  • Root was dismissed for just three runs by James Anderson.

Joe Root‘s miserable Roses match with the bat continued on Monday as he was dismissed for just three in Yorkshire’s second innings against Lancashire.

The England Test captain was caught behind by Dane Vilas off the bowling of James Anderson early on day two at Old Trafford.

Adam Lyth had earlier gone for four, and Kane Williamson swiftly followed suit for one soon after Root’s departure – both falling victim to Graham Onions – to leave Yorkshire 21 for three.

Root had been the first part of a Jordan Clark hat-trick on Sunday, having scored 22 in the first innings. The visitors went on to post 192 before the hosts were skittled for 109.
