    With Dinesh Karthik looking woefully out of touch with both bat and gloves so far in the two Tests against England, the wicketkeeper’s place could be under threat when India take on the hosts in the third Test at Trent Bridge.

    India coach Ravi Shastri sees no reason why Ben Stokes should miss the third Test – and he wants his team to play against him.

    7pm – Shane Warne questions Tim Paine’s Australia captaincy credentials

    Australia legend Shane Warne has questioned Tim Paine’s captaincy credentials to lead the national men’s team. Paine had been handed over Australia’s Test and ODI captaincies following the ball-tampering episode in South Africa which resulted in Steve Smith and David Warner being handed one-year bans by Cricket Australia.

    6:15pm – Sarfraz Ahmed believes Pakistan hold the edge over India

    Pakistan skipper Safraz Ahmed believes his side will hold the psychological edge over India when the two sides clash in the upcoming Asia Cup in the UAE. The two sides are slated to meet on September 19 in Dubai and the Pakistan skipper feels the familiarity of playing in the UAE will give his side an added advantage.

    6pm – Trevor Bayliss calls on Ben Stokes to issue public apology

    England head coach Trevor Bayliss has called on Ben Stokes to make a public apology over the events which led to his eventual acquittal for affray. Stokes was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing at Bristol Crown Court on Tuesday, almost 11 months after being arrested following a brawl outside a nightclub in the Clifton area of the city.

    5pm – India finally hit the nets ahead of Trent Bridge Test

    For the first time since their innings defeat to England at Lord’s, team India finally hit the nets as they began their preparations for the third Test at Trent Bridge which gets underway on Saturday.

    On Thursday morning, Virat Kohli and his men wasted no time in hitting the nets as preparations for the third Test started in earnest.

    4pm – England yet to make a call on Ben Stokes’ selection

    England head coach Trevor Bayliss will decide over the next two days whether Ben Stokes is ready to make his Test return.

    The influential all-rounder was cleared of affray on Tuesday after a week-long case at Bristol Crown Court, relating to a late-night fight in the city following last September’s one-day international against the West Indies.
