    Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews has defended his bowling pack despite their failure to create an impact in the ongoing one-day international series against Pakistan.

    The home team’s attack has conceded 250-plus runs in all the three ODIs played so far with their worst display coming in the last game at the Premadasa Stadium on Sunday when Pakistan piled up 316 and won by 135 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

    Another statistic that highlights the hosts’ struggle is the number of of wickets claimed by the two bowling attacks: 12 by Sri Lankan bowlers and 24 by Pakistan.

    If Pakistan win today, it would be their first ODI series success in Sri Lanka in nine years following their 2-1 triumph in March 2006.
